Judge Ian Chin’s By Tun Mahathir Mohamad
1. On June 10, The Borneo Post reported Judge Ian Chin’s “explosive judicial disclosure”, about how judges were threatened and sent to Boot Camps by the former Prime Minister.
2. He made these revelations prior to hearing a case, apparently to avoid being accused of bias.
3. What he did not reveal is that there is a police report against him for breaches of Judge’s Code of Ethics in hearing a case in which he has a personal interest. He presided on a case involving Dato Syed Kechik without revealing that he believed Syed Kechik was responsible for detaining his father and brother 20 years before.
4. Chin joined Party Berjaya and lost twice. One of the objectives listed in Party Berjaya’s manifesto was to expel Syed Kechik from Sabah. (Syed Kechik akan dikeluarkan dari Sabah). As a party member he must know Berjaya’s hatred for Syed Kechik. This alone should have resulted in him excusing himself from hearing the case.
5. However, both the Claimants and Defendants in the hearing in 1999 did not seek to change the judge, believing that his being a Party Berjaya candidate would not affect his judgement.
6. It was only later that the defendants learnt about the detentions of his father and brother by the Tun Mustafa Government and that Ian Chin believed Syed Kechik was instrumental in getting his father and brother arrested.
7. John R Cherryman Q.C., lawyer for Dato Syed Kechik (DSK) in a written opinion after Chin J’s ruling of September 2, 2004, said inter alia “Looking at these matters in retrospect there emerges a pattern redolent of bias”.
8. Cherryman went on to say; “Knowing what we do now, the inference was that the Judge (Chin J) was throughout determined to have revenge against DSK (and corporate Defendants) for his (Dato Syed Kechik’s) alleged part in the detention of his family members.
9. When Party Berjaya won the State elections in April 1976, the Berjaya Government cancelled Syarikat Banita’s (belonging to Syed Kechik) timber license and on 1st October 1976 published Gazette Notification No 671 on compulsory acquisition of the whole of Zara Project Land of 2,452.74 acres also belonging to Syed Kechik.
10. On 7th September 1977 Banita filed a civil suit against the State Government and on 28th September 1977 Zara filed for the adjudication of compensation claim in respect of compulsory acquisition of its land for “public purpose”.
11. The Sabah Government through the Sabah Foundation, Suiswan Sdn Bhd and Seranum Sdn Bhd filed counter claims against DSK, Zara Sdn Bhd and Banita Sdn Bhd.
12. For about 20 years the Plaintiffs and their Solicitors went to “sleep”. No court action was taken.
13. Then on October 29th 1996 Justice Tee Ah Siang heard the case involving Originating Summons No 69 of 1977. The judge ordered the payment of RM40,920,011.00 in capital compensation by the State Government to Zara Sdn Bhd with 6 % per annum interest from 20th December 1976 to date of settlement.
14. Then on 6th January 1997, Chin J granted ex-parte Mareva Injunction Orders against the Defendants in suit 351 and 352 in response to the Plaintiffs (Sabah Government) application.
15. The very next day Chin J instructed Registrar to set hearing of Suit 351 on 9th January 1997, i.e. three days after he granted injunction against the Defendants.
16. On 9th April 1997 he delivered judgement on Strike Out Actions, refusing to grant order in favour of Defendants (Zara Sdn Bhd).
17. On 5th February 1999 a joint hearing of Suits 351 and 352 was held before Chin J at the Kota Kinabalu High Court. On 6th September 1999 Chin J delivered his judgement in which he stated on pgs 122-125:
“Yes, DSK was from West Malaysia sent to Sabah supposedly to help Sabah politically. Unfortunately, he introduced to Sabah, especially to the then politicians of Sabah, a way to get rich, very rich at that, quickly by way which I have already concluded are wrong in law.”
18. Chin J also said in his judgement that “DSK wielded too much power for anyone to believe that any bureaucrat would oppose him”. He concluded with dismissing with cost the application of the 2nd Defendant to strike out the injunction.
19. It became obvious that Chin J was biased against DSK. Yet he did not reveal his father’s and brother’s arrest during the time of Tun Mustafa’s Government and his belief that Syed Kechik who was adviser to Tun Mustafa was responsible for this arrest when hearing the case concerned.
20. Following this a police report was made by Pengarah, Zara Sdn Bhd on June 16, 2005 on “Salahlaku Hakim Datuk Ian Chin Hon Chong”. (refer to salinan report and 1st page of police report)
21. The report went from Police to Chief Justice Malaysia to Ministers, to the Anti Corruption Agency, to Suhakam (Human Rights Commission) and even to the Prime Minister. No action was taken by any of them.
22. In the meanwhile the cases (DSK, Zara and Banita) went to the Federal Court and a judgement was made on March 25, 2008 and this is what the Federal Court has to say of Chin J’s High Court judgement in the Zara and Banita suits.
23. “Without evidence or justification, the learned Judge wrongly held that DSK made these decisions. We find that the learned Judge’s findings were based on unjustified inferences, speculation, his own preconceived impressions and prejudice…” and;
“We find the learned Judge’s attack on the credbility of SSA (Syed Salem Al-Bukhary , the younger brother of DSK - who represented his incapacitated brother) as unwarranted and does not stand up to examination having regard to the extremely prejudiced view he held about SSA’s conduct as apparent in his judgment.”
24. This Federal Court judgement is likely to come in support of the alleged “Salahlaku” by Chin J in the Police Report by Zara Sdn Bhd.
25. Action is now more likely to be taken against Chin J for breach of the ethical code of judges when he did not reveal his personal interest in the case he was hearing and not recuse himself.
26. His “explosive judicial disclosures” of June 7, 2008 came shortly after the Federal Courts judgment on Mar 25th 2008 and appears to be a desperate attempt ro deflect the legitimate complain against him by the Defendants of Civil Suits Nos 351 and 352 of 1979 which the Federal Courts’ decision seem to support.
27. The reference to the threats by the former Prime Minister and his being sent to a Boot Camp had nothing to do with the case he was about to hear or his previous hearing of a case in which he had personal interest. Refer to statement by Tan Sri Abu Talib Othman, former Attorney-General and current chairman of Suhakam.
28. It looks as if he was trying to curry favour with the Government by demonising the previous Prime Minister whom everyone knows is the bete noir of the present Government.
29. And he was quite right because Government Ministers and the Prime Minister rushed to accept his story as absolutely true. But other judges had refused to endorse his statement about threats by the Prime Minister casting doubt on its veracity. He now “slams a fellow judge in court” but he has not been able to condemn the other judges who also disagreed with him. The Boot Camp was of course not a Boot Camp at all. It was Kursus Tata Negara which had been attended by thousands of civil servants, business executives and politicians, without any complaints.
30. It will be interesting to see whether the Government would set up a tribunal to examine the charges against Ian Chin J.
31. I suspect that it will not. And so this judge who obviously breached The Judges Code of Ethics by “being a judge in his own cause” will simply get away with his unethical behaviour while presiding over a case.
32. The public should question how a person such as Ian Chin J should have been recommended to become a judge. I cannot remember recommending him. He is a disgrace to the judiciary and to the legal profession.
33. Now Chin has changed his accusation of “veiled threat” to “the former premier did not say he would remove judges through a tribunal in those exact words but conveyed the threat by “dropping words to that effect here and there”. I wonder what the words are. He will now be thinking and cooking up more stories.
34. This reflects the character of the man who presides over our courts and dispenses “justice”. He makes use of his position as a judge and the courts to take revenge for alleged actions against members of his family.

Perjuangan Yang Belum Selesai - Dr. Mahathir Mohamad
Sesungguhnya tidak ada yang lebih menyayatkan
dari melihat bangsaku dijajah
Tidak ada yang lebih menyedihkan
dari membiarkan bangsaku dihina
Air mata tiada ertinya
sejarah silam tiada maknanya
sekiranya bangsa tercinta terpinggir
dipersenda dan dilupakan
Bukan kecil langkah wira bangsa
para pejuang kemerdekaan
bagi menegakkan kemuliaan
dan darjat bangsa
selangkah beerti mara
mengharung sejuta dugaan
Biarkan bertatih
asalkan langkah itu yakin dan cermat
bagi memastikan negara
merdeka dan bangsa terpelihara
air mata sengsara
mengiringi setiap langkah bapa-bapa kita
Tugas kita bukan kecil
kerana mengisi kemrdekaan
rupanya lebih sukar dari bermandi
keringat dan darah menuntutnya
Lagi pula apalah ertinya kemerdekaan
kalau bangsaku asyik mengia dan menidakkan,
mengangguk dan membenarkan,
kerana sekalipun bangganya negara
kerana makmur dan mewahnya,
bangsaku masih melata
dan meminta-minta di negaranya sendiri
Bukan kecil tugas kita
meneruskan perjuangan kemerdekaan kita
kerana rupanya selain memerdekakan,
mengisi kemerdekaan itu jauh lebih sengsara
Bangsaku bukan kecil hati dan jiwanya
bukankah sejak zaman berzaman
mereka menjadi pelaut, pengembara
malah penakluk terkemuka?
Bukankah mereka sudah mengembangkan sayap,
menjadi pedagang dan peniaga
selain menjadi ulama dan
ilmuan terbilang?
Bukankah bangsaku pernah mengharung
samudera menjajah dunia yang tak dikenal
Bukankah mereka pernah menjadi
wira serantau yang tidak mengenal
erti takut dan kematian?
Di manakah silapnya hingga bangsaku
berasa begitu kecil dan rendah diri?
Apakah angkara penjajah?
Lalu bangsaku mulai
melupakan kegemilangan silam
dan sejarah gemilang membina empayar
Tugas kita belum selesai rupanya
bagi memartabat dan
memuliakan bangsa
kerana hanya bangsa yang berjaya
akan sentiasa dihormati
Rupanya masih jauh dan berliku jalan kita
bukan sekadar memerdeka dan mengisinya
tetapi mengangkat darjat dan kemuliaan
buat selama-lamanya
Hari ini, jalan ini pasti semakin berliku
kerana masa depan belum tentu
menjanjikan syurga
bagi mereka yang lemah dan mudah kecewa
Perjuangan kita belum selesai
kerana hanya yang cekal dan tabah
dapat membina mercu tanda
bangsanya yang berjaya

ERTI KEMERDEKAAN-DR MAHATHIR MOHAMAD
PUISI PATRIOTIK 2000
ERTI KEMERDEKAAN
Dan jatuhnya hanya beberapa hari
lalu terbelenggu 400 tahun
suatu tempoh yang amat payah dan panjang
pengabdian dan kehilangan yakin diri
43 tahun kita berdiri menebus maruah
menghayun langkah membina wawasan
waspada harimau di matahari terbenam
tidak akan hilang belangnya
mengisytiharkan dirinya yam tuan tunggal sejagat
yang lemah longlai
yang gagah gergasi
akan meruntuhkan segala sempadan rimba
atas nama membina perkampungan dunia
mahukah kita biarkan
Rimba tanpa sempadan
atas nama “kebaikan” menyelinap menusuk matafikir
hidupan dunia ketiga terpaku takjub dengan slogan
‘kasih alam
ketelusan hukum
keadilan timbangan
kesatuan warga dunia
kebebasan mutlak’
lalu beraraklah anak-anak bumi ini meraikan kesatuan alam
dengan sorak sorai
‘runtuhkan sempadan!
runtuhkan sempadan!
runtuhkan korupsi
runtuhkan kolisi’
dan di belakang mereka tidak melihat
bayang-bayang belenggu halimunan
kita tafsir merdeka mengikut acuan sendiri
merdeka kita dengan fikiran
dan kita pertahankannya dengan fikiran
dunia sudah melihat kita
dunia sudah menghormati kita
Timur dan Selatan mengharapkan kita
mereka datang berbondong-bondong mencari bumi ini
perlindungan dan erti hidup
mengapa kita sendiri masih belum mahu melihat
dengan tangan masih terbelenggu ke belakang
dan hanya sesekali menjulangnya
mengikut rentak genderang dunia matahari terbenam?
Bijak pandai pernah berpesan
‘mereka yang tidak belajar dari sejarah mereka didera
dengan mengulangi kesalahan-kesalahan mereka berkali-kali’
sejarah mengajar kita betapa kukuh sesuatu bangsa
akan tetap kecundang bila ditikam dari belakang
mengapa kita mula halalkan sejarah hitam berulang?
Nasib kita genggam
dengan tangan sendiri dan segala kudrat kurniaan
kita jalin kekuatan sulaman kasih bangsa
kita didihkan dia dengan tradisi semangat juang
maruah bangsa kita julang ke mercu alam
kita bangunkan suatu tamadun cinta damai
di sini kita ajar anak-anak kita erti sayang
di sini kita tawarkan dunia menaja kemanusiaan
dan bukan alat peperangan
dunia belajar erti merdeka sejati
mempelajari dan menerima segala perbezaan
merdeka menafsir hidup tanpa paksaan kuasa
Di sini kita yakin segalanya boleh
Di sini kita yakin segalanya boleh
Itulah erti kemerdekaan
Perjuangan ini mesti diteruskan.

Hayati lagu ini untuk renungan kita bersama…
Warisan - Anak Kecil Main Api
Anak kecil main api
Terbakar hatinya yang sepi
Air mata darah bercampur keringat
Bumi dipijak milik orang
Nenek moyang kaya raya
Tergadai seluruh harta benda
Akibat sengketa sesamalah kita
Cinta lenyap diarus zaman
Indahnya bumi kita ini
Warisan berkurun lamanya
Hasil mengalir ketangan yang lain
Peribumi merintih sendiri
Masa depan sungguh kelam
Kan lenyap peristiwa semalam
Tertutuplah hati terkunci mati
Maruah peribadi dah hilang
Kini kita cuma tinggal kuasa
Yang akan menentukan bangsa
Bersatulah hati bersama berbakti
Pulih kembali harga diri
Kita sudah tiada masa
Majulah dengan maha perkasa
Janganlah terlalai teruskan usaha
Melayukan gagah dinusantara

Salams Tun.
Thanks for regular updates of your site. I knew that one day your blog would be blocked because of its popularity. Democracy is getting less and less nowadays. They say you were a dictator during your time (though I do not agree with them) but look at what is happening now. Blatant abuse of rakyat’s money and hey…surprise..surprise..hardly any of the chorus ‘people’ are complaining. Vote of supporting the motion of removal of petroleum subsidy..do they think we, the rakyat’ are as moronic as them? Stupidlah..price already gone up..what else is there to say as if it is going down again. And the Head smiling like a clown, give him an academy award someone!!!! It is such shameful having a Muslim leader like that! Remember Muslim leader..this is just a test from God and lest you forget..God is Great.

Dear Y.A.Bhg Tun,
Its pretty sad when BN vote to remove subsidy the way they removed it. The suffering of rakyat is more important for the BN to vote rather than hearing grouses of rakyat via SAPP motion and that’s what Malaysian Parliament is all about being controlled by Abdullah.

SALAM TUN YANG DIKASIHI,
A vote of no confidence shall be replaced by a full demonstration on the streets again Pak Lah.
Blog will never be blocked cause whatever ways they try good positive bloggers will always have other channels to express their views.if the government really wants to block bloggers, they will have to abolished the internet and TMNET or all telco shall cease providing internet services.
Pak Lah will always be in the state of deial and i am sure before he steps down, he will make sure that he will have sufficient wealth for him to last for generations..also wealth for his SIL, his son, his kuncu’s and all his cronies cause if he steps down now, all his plans with his SIL and cronies will be halted and most probably he will be charged in court along with his SIL and cronies. So, the best thing for him to do now is ensure no loopholes anywhere but he forgets about the sumpah by more than 20 million rakyat in this country. They say even if 44 people sumpah or curse you it could materialize, just imagine 20 million people doing that!Hope it will come true!
Someone even proposed to have us withdraw our EPF savings to install NGV systems(..and it came from a company selling this systems! What a joke!).Lets say if all vehicle owners installed NGV tanks and once all these were done, SIL and Co will take over Petronas and uplift the subsidy for NGV and then the all the people whom have installed NGV tanks will pay and even have to maintain a very high cost of NGV plus the maintenance of the system installed. They have used their EPF for no good reason, end up with less savings when they retire and then, the government will come up with another suggestion..UBAH CARA HIDUP!..only good thing is less poisonous emission if use NGV!
As for Langkawi, if the rational of building a highway is to cut down time from 2 hours to 4 minutes, then it is very rational and a good investment but to build a highway to cut down driving time from 10 minutes to 4 minutes..that is another stupid suggestion by the administration!Furthermore, Langkawi is a tourist destination island and why in he hell would you want tourist to cut down traveling time from one place to another? If i am not mistaken even if you drive around Langkawi it will only take 1 hour a bit..i guess and along the way there are many interesting things for the tourists to see and also some kampungs which are worthwhile for tourist to stop by!What i see here is Pak Lah is still trying to be as famous as you but he is doing all the wrong things. He knows that Langkawiis your baby and maybe to him by destroying yourbaby you will dosomething irrational and he can pin that on you.
Dear Tun, what i really need of younow is to lead all of us out of this stupid and very dumb and lazyPM.Another thing that you will do all of us a big,big favor is next time when you meet Pak Lah in the flesh..please,please give him the MOTHER of all tight slap on his left cheek, on his right cheek and please, please ask him to bow down and please, please kick him in the head and face! You will do us all great justice!
Thank you Tun, Ayahanda untuk Semua…

SAYA BENCI PAK LAH
By Affandi Latif on June 26, 2008 4:06 PM

Assalamualaikum ,
I agree with U Dr. Mahathir. There’s no freedom of press.Everyhting is control by Pak Lah,KJ & co. Even when I post my comments here , I had to think twice what I write.Dr. Mahathir,we are tired of waiting Pak Lah to step down. Something has to be done before he completely ruin this country.
As for Tan Sri Hassan Merican I had always admire him. He’s brillliant and honest man.It will be a total loss if he just give in to KJ&co’s crazy cries . Don’t let him to resign. This country needs a man like him to lead Petronas.
One more Dr. Mahathir, I had always smell something fishy with the Altantuya case.Suddenly KJ’s name arise when RPK made a SD.Well, I just pray and see who’s the real culprit.
May Allah bless U & your family, Ayahanda. We will always support you.

Tun,

Assalamualaikum Tun,
1) VOTE OF (NO) CONFIDENCE
We know that is not going to happened because of that “pengampu” nazri has made it clear that there will be no vote of no confidence against pak lah.
2) BLO(G)CKED
We know that is going to happen sooner or later and next will be freedom of speech(there will be freedom before the speech and no freedom after the speech.
3) ABDULLAH’S UMNO
Umno doesnt belong to pak lah or any individuals. Umno belongs to the malays because the malays are the first who started the struggle against the british for independence. Why couldnt pak lah get it in his thick skull that Umno doesnt belong to him to do as he please.
4) NGV
For god sake pak lah should have promote NGV and also prepare the infrastructure for the NGV gas station(making it easier available) before increasing the petrol price.
5) LANGKAWI
We all know that teak wood is expensive well somebody is sure making money out of it by chopping it down. There goes the neighbourhood.
But one thing that is very interesting point that you stated tun is “Why is it that I feel we have gone back to the great days of the Colonial era?” really tun we are going back to the stone age.
The only answer is for god sake pak lah step down…..
wasalam tun. May Allah bless Malaysia and you aminnnn

Umno Grassroots Want Code Of Ethics Reviewed
KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 (Bernama) — Umno Youth grassroots leaders Tuesday urged the party to review the new code of ethics imposed on candidates vying for posts in the coming party elections.
They said the new code of ethics was “too restrictive” on the members.
Tenggara Umno Youth chief Suhaimi Khalid said the prohibition for candidates to attend wedding, tahlil prayers and thanksgiving, for fear that they might use the occasion to fish for votes, was way too much.
“We should not hold the views that candidates are bad,” he said when contacted.
He was asked to comment on the new code of ethics as reported in local newspapers Tuesday, prohibiting members from appointing agents, lobbyists, campaign managers and vote canvassers or risk having their membership suspended or being expelled from the party.
Umno members were also prohibited from receiving or allowing family members, including their wife, to accept among others, any form of gifts including travel facility, shares, concessions, contracts or awards.
Felda Simpang Waha deputy branch chief Musa Ngaman said party leadership should review the rules.
“We at the grassroots are not for money. We just want to see our leaders going down to the field,” he said.
Umno elections would start on July 17 at the branch level, followed by divisional elections on Oct 9. The central elections is in December.
Kangar Umno Youth chief Hamunir Hamzah also called for the code to be reviewed. “It’s as though being a candidate is tantamount to being involved in immoral activities,” he said.
Kuala Terengganu Umno youth vice-chief Badrul Hisham Zaki said even though the intention was good, the leadership should carry out a study whether money politics could really be prevented by the implementation of the code.
NOTE : the more restriction the more money will flow.how can you stop a candidate attending wedding functions , tahlil and thanksgiving ? if they don’t turn up, people will say that this person doesn’t care for them, they will never vote for him.it is time for umno to change the campaign style. let the candidates campaign freely but with full supervision so that the won’t abuse the freedom given to them.anything involve money and bribe should not be allowed at all. let the candidates have debates with each other so that members can judge and make a choice.

Assalamualaikum Tun Dr. Mahathir yang di kasihi,
I think your blog is blocked because of too much traffic to your old site at one time. It that sense, the so called robot will trigger the ’spam’ mode.
It is just like the bursa malaysia that will automatically suspended when the drop was more than 10% per (just what happened on March 10, 2008, trading on the exchange was suspended for one hour due to composite index fall by more than 10 percent or 130 points to 1166.32 points.)
Or… other reason… “blocked by someone/standing instruction/etc…”
Anyway Tun, i will always admire you and your thought and semoga Allah merahmati kehidupan Tun sepanjang hayat.
Btw, i’ve managed to save all your previous blog entry with the comments in pdf format.
Wassalam

Tun,
Pandai Pak Lah ….
Saya “SOKONG Pak Lah 100%)…. hah…hah…

assalamualaikum tun n semua pembaca..
minta MT n lembaga disiplin kaji semula beberapa perkara n larangan.
seperkara lagi kalau semua rakyat malaysia perasan, sejak kebelakangan ni tiada lagi or kurang cabaran2 yg cuba d sahut oleh anak muda etc dalam menempatkan nama d persada antara bangsa(dlm gness book record). laungan MALAYSIA BOLEH pun dah tak kedengaran lg. dulu silih berganti dengan mendaki gunung everest, rentas selat inggeris, pelayaran solo, terjun udara d kutub bersama kereta proton wira dan banyak lagi. yang ada pun angkasawan negara yg saya rasa dari ilham tun juga.
dulu apa sahaja y d buat oleh kerajaan, rakyat etc adalah demi negara agar dijulang, mahsyurkan nama negara d pentas antarabangsa. sekarang sepi… pasal kos meningkat kot? he he he.
tapi dlm bab y tak libat kos besar pun tak menonjol juga. khususnya kerajaan, tidak lagi jadi jaguh d pentas dunia. membela negara2 islam, ngara membangun, dunia ketiga etc… tidak lagi mendesak kuasa2 besar dunia dgn cara bijaksana n terhormat.
semuanya dah tiada n dah berlalu.
yg tinggal hanya pada nama dan memory…

I think the termination of subsidy program for the fuel should have started much earlier, i.e during your era as the this subsidy only encourage the rising oil consumption in our country.

Assalamualaikum tun,
entahlah tun, kadang2 saya kesian jugak tengok pak lah ni asyik kena kutuk je. tapi pikir2 balik, kalau dia sendiri tak kesian tengok rakyat menderita, buat ape pulak kita nak kesian kat dia kan? dia ni bak kata orang tua2 ‘bodoh sombong’. dah la diri tu tak pandai, tak nak pulak bertanya. dah tu, bila orang bagi pandangan tak nak pulak dengar. entah la, pemimpin macam ape la dia ni…

Saya ucapkan terima Kasih.

It is a fine line to tread between demanding AAB to reisgn without handing a victory to the opposition. I totally agree with Tun to recommend all UMNO members to revoke their membership until a time when a more competent leader can take over as PM. Drastic action is needed by sincere UMNO members as well as the rakyat to push this useless thug of a leader of out of office.
What surprises me how the opposition are happy and even supporting AAB to remain in power. They know that the opposition has a better chance of winning elections and forming the next government with pathetic people like AAB and his cronies staying put. AAB will hand the opposition power on a plate.

Rationalizing The Role of Government
Get rid of his luxurious Abdullah corporate Jet
Prime Minister Abdullah and his civil servant accountants delude themselves into believing that the government could actually “save” RM2 billion merely by reducing ministerial allowances. The only way to effectively and substantially reduce the cost of government is to first rationalize its function.
As for any savings, Abdullah would achieve considerably more by getting rid of his luxurious Airbus corporate jet. If he were to do so, the jet would become a revenue producer instead of at present, a costly expense item. He would effectively move it from the liability to the asset column.
The British Prime Minister does not have a private jet, despite leading an economy and nation considerably larger. To think that this Imam of Islam Hadhari, only a generation away from the poverty of the kampong, having such an obscenely extravagant taste!
Proper Role of Government
The government should focus on doing only those things that are properly within its purview, and do away with extraneous activities. This would streamline its machinery, reduce its size, and trim its costs. We would also have a more efficient government that could serve the citizens more effectively.
In this Age of the Internet, the government has no business owning a television station or news agency. Dispense with the Ministry of Information. Likewise we do not need a ministry trying to produce athletes or encourage sports. About the only champions that ministry could produce were profligate spenders of public funds, as evidenced by the ministry’s recent debacle over its training facility in London. That now-abandoned project cost the government hundreds of million of ringgit.
Then there is the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development. The pretensions of these civil servants to think that they have the competence to select or train future entrepreneurs! Get rid of that ministry and we would see a blossoming of entrepreneurial activities.
In the same vein, do Tourism Ministry officials really think that they are responsible for tourists visiting our country? The operators of Club Med and Hilton hotels do a far more credible job. They have to as the success of their businesses depends on these tourists. As for those civil servants in the Tourism Ministry, all they can think of is their next posting abroad, or when they would undertake a “promotional” trip overseas.
I have taken many vacations in Malaysia and have never found the Tourism Ministry or its many agencies useful. Canvass foreign visitors, or better yet, stay at one of Tourism Malaysia’s facilities, and you would reach the same conclusion. Abolishing the ministry would have no negative impact on the industry. On the contrary, freed from bureaucratic hassles, the industry would grow even faster.
Those impressive statistics the ministry puts out are uninformative. Millions of the “tourists” coming through Johore Baru or Padang Besar are nothing more than aunts and uncles visiting their relatives across the border.Eliminating these ministries and combining others would reduce by half the number of ministers, together with their accompanying Secretaries-General, Directors-General, and hordes of Deputies and Assistants. These savings would be instantaneous as well as cumulative. Think of the future savings in salaries, medical costs, and pension liabilities.
Bloated Public Sector
By any measure – relative to the economy, population, or labor force – the public sector in Malaysia is bloated. Being primarily a Malay institution, the impact of the civil service on the psyche, labor dynamics, and cultural values of Malays is disproportionately huge.
Young Malays are conditioned not to look beyond the civil service for employment. Our universities and colleges too are unresponsive to the demands of the private sector as most of its graduates are Malays whose career horizons rarely extend beyond government service. Perversely, the obsession with Ketuanan Melayu makes the civil service’s hold on Malays even more tenacious.
Civil servants enjoy considerable subsidies, from subsidized car loans and home mortgages to below-market rents on government quarters and paid pre-retirement vacation packages. Children of civil servants are also over represented among those admitted into our residential schools (again highly subsidized) and recipients of government scholarships. This makes ridding of the subsidy mentality among Malays that much more difficult.
To these civil servants, gyrations in interest or foreign exchange rates will not impact them. Insulated from the realities of the marketplace, it is no surprise that the policies they design and implement are similarly far detached from reality.
If we reduce the public sector, Malays would be forced to look into the marketplace. They would then have to prepare themselves adequately. That could just be the needed incentives for them to pursue relevant subject matters in schools and universities. Instead of looking forward to being a kerani (clerk) at the land office, they could instead take up auto mechanics for example, and in the process contribute more to the economy.
The public sector is nothing more than overhead, and a very expensive one at that. It does not add to the economy; on the contrary it is a burden. It is people, individually or through their enterprises, that produce the goods and services. Reducing the size of government would also discourage corruption and influence peddling. Plot the size of government (adjusted for population and economy) and incidence of corruption, and the correlation would be startling.
A large public sector inhibits the development of a vibrant private sector. The many government-linked companies (GLCs), far from stimulating new independent contractors and entrepreneurs, actively compete with and stunt their development. These GLCs have not nurtured their share of entrepreneurs. How many employees of GLCs leave to start their own enterprises?
More important is what the government does with its size and power. The Scandinavian countries all have large governments, but they use their power and resources to emancipate their citizens through providing superior education and healthcare. Mothers, for example, enjoy subsidized affordable government-run childcare centers.
In Malaysia, the government uses it size and power to snoop on citizens, making sure that they do not hold hands in public. Significant government personnel and resources are diverted to controlling what citizens read and view, all non-productive activities.
There is however, one good thing about Abdullah’s reducing his ministers’ holiday allowances. They will now know how much those fancy vacations cost. If Abdullah goes further and dispenses with his Airbus jet and uses Malaysia Airlines instead, he would experience firsthand the type of service it provides. Apart from saving the government a considerable sum of money, it would also help disabuse him of the “sultan syndrome.” Anything that would bring him closer to the real world is a good thing.

Tergadai seluruh harta benda
Akibat sengketa sesamalah kita
Cinta lenyap diarus zaman
Indahnya bumi kita ini
Warisan berkurun lamanya
Hasil mengalir ketangan yang lain
Pribuimi merintih sendiri
Masa depan sungguh kelam
Kan lenyap peristiwa semalam
Tertutup hati terkunci mati
Maruah peribadi dah hilang
Kini kita cuma tinggal kuasa
Yang akan mentukan bangsa
Bersatu hati bersama berbakti
Pulih kembali harga diri

The truth is i have not encountered a single friend that has anything good to say about our present government… nowadays… I for one is a strong supporter of UMMO and believe in its struggle and principle… even in the last election I voted for BN and has always fight any criticism about UMMO… but now I don’t have the heart to defend her anymore… since AAB become PM.
Its like UMMO is not the UMMO that I love and admire…
It’s just wishfull thinking on my part that you can become our PM again… But with this blog you can still fight for the good of UMMO and Malaysia that you love.
Please look after your health and may ALLAH berkati perjuangan Tun.

Yg, Bhg. Tun,
I told you so DSAAB is not stupid, ignorant or negligent. Less endowed may be. He has all the BN MPs held by their noses and the fact that they were scared to oppose the motion reflected they no longer represent the Rakyat but only DSAAB. I’m quite sure the UMNO MPs would be deprived of contesting or voting comes December had they disagreed. They have all betrayed the Rakyat and shall be duly punished for their greed.
About the “robots”, as I see it you are the only person who can spearhead the Rakyat in ridding of them. When its time, you only need to guide and tell us what to do. We’ll do it for the love of this country.
Its true the perception now is, DSAAB is UMNO and vice versa. When he’s gone, UMNO election system must be changed so that from Supreme Council members right up to the President are voted by members. One member one vote. I find the root causes of corruption mainly due to the current voting system.
The installation of NGV gas tanks is so popular now that suppliers are overwhelmed. I suppose both consumers and suppliers will be losers soon if the facts were kept from them.
The way you were saying about Langkawi is as if you already knew what they were up to. Not long ago someone hinted that the whole island would be bundled up to some rich Arabs on a long lease for tourism purposes. Please don’t hold me on this it was just somebody’s hint, okay.

Dear YA Bhg Tun,
actually i wonder who is(are) behind our problem(s). my 2 sen opinion is that i don’t think it’s actually 100% due to ydp pm because he’s not that clever to think in depth of anything. my humble opinion is taht kj is not to be fully blamed but actaully kamaluddin and kalimullah (singapore’s secret agent)… kj is only a ‘front’ for them (by giving him some goodies-commission through project(s)) and an opportunist for him to climb up the political ladder….
maybe tun, the real person(s) behind 4th floor is kamaluddin and kalimullah. maybe tun can elaborate further.
may ALLAH SWT blessed Tun and TUn Hasmah with good health, strength and long live!
Best regards……

Assalamualaikum Tun,
Many find it appalling that the motion on the removal of subsidy for petroleum was not objected much by fellow BN MPs despite knowing that such an abrupt and drastic decision presents a huge burden for the people.
And today, PM announced a RM230 Billion mid term review of 9MP which among other things claimed the economy will expand an average of 6 percent annually. I’m sure many will questioned if this prediction will materialize in view of the high oil prices and inflation rates.
As the figures from PM’s speech is scrutinized intensely, one can be forgiven if such rosy account of the economy is rightly taken with a big pinch of salt.

Tun,

Vote of No Confidence
Kita sedang melihat bagaimana Parlimen berfungsi.

Tapi still murah jika kita bandingkan Euro 1.26 dengan RM 2.70. Kalau ditukar currency tu dengan currency kita memang la mahal jadinya tapi kita tak boleh buat mcm tu sebab standard of living kat sini lain.
Salam hormat.

Apalah ertinya orang-orang atasan bersikap sedemikian jika rakyat semakin menderita.

I still believe in you! Saya dibesarkan dalam zaman tun. Saya menikmati kemakmuran pada pemerintahan Tun. Tapi sekarang saya dapat rasa Malaysia macam dah tak makmur. Aman masih aman tapi kemakmuran dah tiada saya rasakan.

Serawak 1 Billion. Judges juta juta. Olimpik juta juta. Private Jet ratus ratus ribu.
Jahanam negara ni kalau macam ni Tun. Mampus lah rakyat bila depa main hantam kromo saja belanja. Dalam pada itu projek di hentikan. Ekonomi dicekik. Matilah lah macam ni negara kita selagi Dollah dan Najib kat atas tu.
Memnag sedih Tun. Tapi kalau rakyat masih lagi bodoh dok sokong Dollah bulan december ni. salah sapa Tun. Salah rakyat jugala. Salah orang UMNO jugala.
UMNO sekarang cuma rubber stem Dollah saja.

Dear Tun,
Some people say the current pm is a modest one and not as ambitious as you. Some people say that he’ll clear up all the mess that you’ve done during your time in power. Some people say his ‘hadhari’ approach will put him the elite 4 of the previous pm and someday… even giving the title of ‘bapa hadhari of Malaysia’. Well… that was people saying in 2004.
In 2008, most people say… what the heck is this fella doin’? Surely in 2012 (I do hope it will be much earlier), most people will say… pak who? That’s for sure.
But my main concern who is the best candidate to get the job done? Possibly the white hair guy. Of course Tun, he may have some disagreement with you in the past. But in my opinion, I couldn’t see any candidate that is more suitable than him in the current government line up. But the pak who? is not a joe nobody… Look at the current portfolio that the white hair guy is handling… he’s in a tight spot.
As on the opposition side, I couldn’t see anybody else other than the de facto. With regards of all the past stories, he’s the best choice.
Frankly, for a regular Malaysian like me, If joe nobody still wants to play, or he gave his toys to one of his lackeys except the white hair guy or somebody that has his charisma, I would say adios to BN and welcome the new wave. Of course, Malaysians will be nervous because we are not very familiar with changes. But it all comes down to our limit and patience.
Malaysians is desperately in need of a leader. Tun, why don’t you come back in?

Dear TUN,
I believed, the flip-flop decisions by AAB were basically due to his agreement to all proposals being made to him. For example:
Friday
MP - ” Pak Lah, ape kate kite toksah bagi org singapore dan org thai beli minyak kat sempadan?”
AAB - ” Tapi kalau diorang nak pi KL maybe boleh kut? Kesian depa!”
MP - “Ok lah. Kalau depa travel more than 60km baru boleh”
AAB - “ok gak tu! boleh lah, pi implement”
MP- (dalam hati) - aik….senang je org tua
Wed
MP - ” Pak Lah, kita kena gak naikkan harga minyak”
AAB- ” Ok lah, nak buat macam mana. Minyak dok naik je lah ni”
MP - ” October ni kite naikkan 30 posen ok tak?”
AAB - ” ok gak tu, gi lah buat”
MP pun pergilah dan buat sidang media..
sementara tu si KJ dtg..
KJ- ” Bapak citer aper dgn si anu tu?”
AAB - ” alar…pasai harga minyak. Asyik dok naik jer. Mana larat nak subsidi lagi”
KJ -” kalau sayalah, kasi naik terus 78 sen, buat aper naik sikit-sikit, nanti org buat demo, payah nak naikkan lagi”
AAB - “Betui tu!”
KJ -” tak yah tunggu oct ler…buat sekarang ler. Leaders will make any decision even made them unpopular”
AAB - “betui tu. HAng pi jumpa si anu tu. Buat mcm yang hang ckp tadi”
sementara tu MP dah buat sidang media bgtau minyak naik october bukan sekarang.
Dear Tun,
I wish AAB has his own thinking on all the matters before he decide rather than ikut je aper cabinet ckp…
luv you TUN

Dear Tun,
To be outside the box (assuming that we’re not in yet another), we have to be ready for something which we are perhaps not familiar with, let alone know what it is. It is best therefore to be open, objective and impartial in the way we see things.
Because this area outside the box is uncharted territory, we can’t really see and can’t really orientate ourselves. We therefore need a map, a manual, a guide, a guide-book or simply a book.
This is not something new but has happened again and again throughout human civilization. Those who had referred and gone by the manual The Book were known as People of The Book. Those who have not used The Book were/are other than the People of The Book.
The Book was handed down from generation to generation. Along the way many had taken The Book into their own hands and edited it. Once edited, The Book cannot any longer be called The Book even if it is entitled so, in whatever language they may be (Bible, Al-Kitab).
Those who were supposed to have preserved The Book entitled At-Taurat (The Laws) Al-Injil (The Gospel) did not actually do so and finally The Book was given the title Al-Quran (The Reading).
The Reading is also known as Al-Mubin, Al-Karim, Ar-Rahmah, Asy-Syifa’, Az-Dzikir, Al-’Ali, Al-Hikmah, Al-Musaddiq, As-Siratal Mustaqim, Al-Qaul, Al-Nabaul’ azhim, Al-Matsani, Al-Tanzil, Al-Wahyu, Al-Bashair, Al-’Ilm, Al-Hadi, At-Tadzkirah, Al Kalam, An Nur, Al Huda, Al Furqan, Al Mahu’izahah, Al Mubarak, etc.
The Reading is certainly not for those who feel comfortable in their boxes but those who want to get out of them and be defined by the naturally limitless boundaries called the earth and sky, it is for those seeking for the natural way of life, the life prescribed by The Creator. There are many issues which need us to be outside of the boxes we’re normally boxed-in in order to get a better view of everything.
The boxing-in happens in many areas where people are divided along socio-politico-economic-legal lines in so many names - race, profession, position, religion, gender, u name it.
The results of boxing-up are boxes of people who are proud of the box they belong to. A hi-income green American-Italian architect is an example of a very specific box, while an Indonesian construction worker would be located in a bigger and more general box. The numbers of boxes are just too many.
To be outside all these boxes, we have to let go of the artificial boundaries or lines we normally accept and very often, even create. This is essentially to simplify matters.
By The Book, the act of boxing-up into groups is called syirik, and the people, proud of their boxes, musyrikin (see 30:31 which may be translated as follows):
30:31 Turn back to Him with taqwa (a program) and establish salat, and are not the musyrikin.
30:32 (that is) those who divide the Din and became sects, members of each sect rejoicing in what they have with them.
Why can’t we be fragmented like these people in their groups? There’s only a simple reason; because we shall not be forgiven, see 4:48
As opposed to syirik, there is this thing called tauhid (from wahid, one). Normally taken to mean oneness, it’s about being holistic.
Best regards.

Salam Tun,
Wah this time all the news in 1 (4 in 1). All the topics are interesting to be commented. I am suggesting 2 things:
1) If possible please include snapshot (i.e photos) related to the issue that you bring up. Eg. Road in Langkawi and Trees were being chopped off (The photos speak by itself). It is much easier for readers to digest. May be you can get some help on this. Juat a simple digital camera would do.
2) Issues that you brought up are very closed to the heart of the people (eg. subsidy, NGV etc…). I think we must find ways to allow the people to speak up. Not only the bloggers, commenters and others But PEOPLE. My idea is that we can come out like a forum and document it in the form of ‘media’. It can be upload through You Tube (No one can stop this) or create a forum let’s call it ‘SUARA RAKYAT’ (only an example) - you can be the the initiator. Your daughter DP Marina Mahathir is good in this (broadcasting). Just an idea from abroad.
Wassalam and take care. Keep kicking and kick hard.

Dear Tun ,
I am really dissapointed with the whole bn puppet minister . The passing through on the fuel subsidy removal is just an insult to the rakyat. What on earth are they doing when they have already removed the subsidy and then only table the motion.Furthermore, the bn ministers have been briefed ( or given some sugar ) the day before the motion was table. Those who vote for the motion just shows that how ignorent are them to the rakyat suffering.I wish that all the petrol allowance of the ministers are withdraw from them so that they can feel the pain to the increased of the fuel price when the need to pay for petrol themselve. Cutting 10% only from “just” the entertainment allowance are nothing . The lowest entertainment allowance of ministers are Rm 6000. This is already equivalent to a professional paid salary in our country. This is only their allowance! … by cutting 10% ( RM 600 ) ….. commonlah , what is that ? In the midst of government saying that they try to save as much as possible , still they announce of increased in allocation for gold medal incentive to Rm 1 million. This is really too much of an incentive.
On the NGV price , I fully agreed that goverment should set clear of the policy. A lot of people have move to fix NGV in their cars. However , the shortsighted PM are too busy trying to take care of his puppet and will ignore the “rakyat” pain with his flip flop decision. If I am not wrong , the subsidy on the NGV will be removed in near future and the rakyat who have installed NGV will be caught with their pants down.

Dear Tun,
“Time to drive from end to end will be reduced from 10-minutes to four-minutes.
I drove along the road. There were hardly any cars (perhaps it is the oil price hike). The teak trees lining the road are about 25 years old. They are flowering and stately. They must be chopped down so we can reach Ayer Hangat in four-minutes.”
They need to widen the road in order to give out road-widening contracts to some Kedahan branch leader. At least that would make them nominate him in the coming Umno elections. Several money wasting projects will be dished out to companies related to the Umno branch leaders come this july and august.
If not, Pak Lah may not even get enough nominations to even contest the President post!
Thank you.

Thank you, Tun.
A good government must always aware of people feeling and voices;
Don’t simply push the responsibities away by given a lot of excuse;
Must remember, the government is selected by the people, hoping that people welfare and education can be taken care. A good government will not put a big burden for people; they should find a way on how to overcome the current global market prices crisis.
I think Tun will have a way to solve this if the government still under your leadership without increase the people load.

I hope, the current government can understand the current chain reaction happening, quickly form a long term formula to ease the burden of the people, after so many voices have risen.
Thank you & regards,

Tun,
Inilah kali pertama saya memberi komen peribadi saya.
Maaf kalau ianya agak terkasar.
Tun,
Sampai bila nak dibiarkan keadaan Negara kita terus terumbang ambing begini.
Tun,
Kalau nak tunggu PRU13, saya rasa dah terlambat.
Kalau Tun nak suruh demo pun, kami sanggup.
Tun,
JUST SAY IT……
