Well the second week of Danica Patrick’s NASCAR debut ended abruptly with a destroyed race car. The race started off badly for Patrick when she narrowly avoided a crash and was shuffled to the back of the pack. Danica ran outside of the top 30 for a while before making it back into the 20’s. Patrick got caught up in a 12 car accident and her car was mangled. Danica remained optimistic though when she said, “It’s important to have realistic expectations. There’s going to be spikes in performance, I don’t doubt that. But there’s also going to be tough days. And today, I would say, was more of a tough day.” Even with the disappointment of a crash, Danica Patrick is bringing a renewed interest in NASCAR as she was horded by fans before and after the race. Formula One team Red Bull have unveiled their new car ahead of the opening grand prix in Bahrain in March.Driver Mark Webber took the new model, the RB6, out for a test drive at the Jerez Circuit on Wednesday (February 10th).According to the Australian, the new car is more of an evolution of last year’s model, rather than a total rebuild.”To be honest we finished last season with a first and a second, so we didn’t want to go to great lengths to design another car on the back of that or go too crazy,” Webber told the Associated Press.”I think there are a lot of subtle, small things that will hopefully make this car more successful than last year’s.”Changes to the car include a reworked front wing which incorporates a rear diffuser, shark fin engine cover and an increase in length to accommodate a larger fuel tank since re-fuelling during a race is banned this season.The first race of the 2010 Formula One season takes place at the Sakhir circuit in Bahrain on March 14th.

I just cannot come to terms to pay such unrealistic prices for cars.In 1986, a Toyota Corrolla or Honda Civic only cost RM25,000 - RM28,000. In the early 1990s, the prices rose to RM50,000.By mid 1990s, it was about RM80,000 and by 2000 it had breached RM100,000. A 1.8 sedan now costs RM110,000.A similar car in Thailand is RM20,000 to RM250,000 cheaper.The increase of car prices in Malaysia over the past 25 years was caused mainly by the protectionist policy the government had towards the local automotive industry.
