Well the second week of Danica Patrick’s NASCAR debut ended abruptly with a destroyed race car. The race started off badly for Patrick when she narrowly avoided a crash and was shuffled to the back of the pack. Danica ran outside of the top 30 for a while before making it back into the 20’s. Patrick got caught up in a 12 car accident and her car was mangled. Danica remained optimistic though when she said, “It’s important to have realistic expectations. There’s going to be spikes in performance, I don’t doubt that. But there’s also going to be tough days. And today, I would say, was more of a tough day.” Even with the disappointment of a crash, Danica Patrick is bringing a renewed interest in NASCAR as she was horded by fans before and after the race. Dale Earnhardt Jr., who owns the car Patrick is racing had a very bad day as he crashed also. So now team JR Motorsports is left trying to build 2 new race cars. Danica Patrick is very good for NASCAR as she seems to be a

A Jack Bauer true confession: Kiefer Sutherland says he gets no special treatment when he goes through airport security, even in the post-would-be-underwear-bomber era.”I get in the same line as anyone else,” Sutherland told Canwest, laughing and appearing visibly relaxed in an uncharacteristically formal, tailor-made suit and silk tie. No torn jacket or sweat-stained shirt for the man who plays TV’s most famous counterterrorism agent — at least, not on this day.”I go through the same search as everybody else,” Sutherland continued. “They probably talk to me a little more than the other passengers, but that’s about it.”" You know, I’m always shocked that the people I’m flying with will say, ‘Oh, I feel safer on the plane.’ I’m thinking, ‘You must not watch the show because everybody around me gets killed.’ “24′ s eighth season begins this Sunday on Global and Fox. It has been a remarkable run for the fictional, real-time counterterrorism thriller that first aired in November 2001, jus

In a feat that could one day result in groundbreaking new cancer treatments, British scientists have identified genetic mutations that lead to lung cancer and melanoma. The findings were published December 16, 2009 in the journal Nature. Researchers at The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in Cambridge, England, took cancerous cells from two patients — one with melanoma and one with lung cancer — and compared them to normal, healthy cells taken from the same individuals. Nearly 23,000 cell changes (called mutations) were found in the lung cancer genome, while more than 30,000 were found in the melanoma genome. While most mutations are harmless, the more mutations that occur, the more likely it is one will lead to cancer. The findings are remarkable because this is the first time that almost all of the mutations in the genomes of lung cancer and melanoma have been revealed. Even more important, the techniques used in this study allowed the researchers to identify what caused the mutations

Iraq’s oil minister on Saturday began counting the money even before the first wells were drilled, dubbing the country’s second post-war oil auction a triumph, despite caution from international oil companies.Source: YahooWorld oil players steered largely clear of anything but Iraq’s cheapest and safest of the reserves in the Middle East’s last major oil bonanza. The two-day licensing round, which ended Saturday, saw deals on only seven of the 15 fields on offer. Of those, four were in the stable southern Shiite heartland while two in the north went to the only company that expressed an interest: Angola’s Sonogal. The last was in central Iraq, in a province where violence has remained at a minimum. The auction was key for Iraq. Its international licensing round in June — the first in over three decades — largely failed with only one giant field awarded out of eight offered. The hope was for a better showing this time with deals that could help Iraq rebuild after the 2003 U.S.-led war

Former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson has said she’ll be stripping off until the day she dies. The 42-year-old actress who has also got panned for her ‘mutton dressed as lamb’ and ‘trailer trash’ taste in fashion by critics earlier, says she has no plans to tone things down when it comes to peeling off, reports mirror.co.uk.Pamela Anderson is back in the Baywatch suit!”I don’t think there’ll be a cut-off period. Until my body starts changing in a certain way I’m sure I’ll dress like me. Sometimes I’ll be in a bikini running around with a little wrap around me to drive my kids to school. At other times, it’s nice to dress conservative - although I’m not really known for that,” she said.Pam under fire for ‘child-labour evening’”You still want to look hot, you still want to look sexy. It’s so boring when people dress to be trendy or dress the way they’ve seen in the magazines. I think what you wear says a lot about you. It’s a statement and it’s kind of like your own art, it’s your body and

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is crippling because it is a progressive disease. We have been endowed with such reserves that we do not realise the damage caused to the lungs by smoking.Smoking attacks the lungs from day one and studies have shown that complete cessation is the only way to arrest the decline of the accelerated fall in lung function. Here is some more information on COPD.Source: WikipediaWhat is COPD?COPD encompasses two important diseases: Chronic bronchitis and Emphysema. Chronic bronchitis is inflamed and narrowed airways that make breathing difficult; so that the patient is left breathless. In emphysema the lungs are enlarged but not working.Take the example of a balloon. A balloon can be inflated up to a point where you can see the expansion. Beyond this, you cannot see the balloon growing though you continue to blow. Five years after he made Earth freeze over in “The Day After Tomorrow,” director Roland Emmerich is wreaking more havoc, this time with “2012.”The disaster epic, which opens November 13 via Sony, sees the end of the world come from solar flares that cause the Earth’s core to melt and shift tectonic plates. While the movie is preposterous, and recycles a set piece three times, you can’t deny the mesmerizing quality of devastation, especially on the big screen.During Tuesday’s world premiere in downtown Los Angeles, Mickey Rooney began clapping during the epilogue, leading the crowd to applause during the credits.”When you normally see disasters, you always see the aftermath; movies actually show it happening,” theorized Emmerich at the after-party as to why those kinds of movies are popular. People are fascinated.”While the German native got out of the directing gate with “Universal Soldier” and “Stargate,” it was the 1996 alien-invasion disaster movie “Independence Day” that really made
