Google Wave may be gone, but there are still reasons to rejoice in Googleville. One of them is the continuing good news about sales of smartphones running Google’s Android operating system. While the shock of Searchzilla’s announcement that it was driving a stake into the heart of its experiment in collaboration, its boss revealed to a gathering of reporters at Techonomy in Lake Tahoe, California that Android smartphone activations have reached 200,000 a day. That’s an increase of more than 200 percent since over this year’s first quarter, when activations were around 65,000 a day. At 200,000 activations a day, one million Android phones would be sold every five days, six million every 30 days and from August 1 to the end of the year, 30 million new handsets would be in consumers’ hands. But that’s if sales remain static at 200,000 a day. That hasn’t been the case all year. Just two months ago, sales were at 100,000 a day. One month later, they’d climbed to 160,000. Given those kinds of

Lady Gaga came through for her fans and delivered a rock-solid performance during her free concert at the New York Rockefeller Center. The wild and gutsy singer enthralled the fans that waited for her despite the intense heat of the sun just to catch her performance. At least 20,000 devoted fans cheered, applauded and called out Gaga’s name as the singer brought the stage to life with her popular hits, ‘Alejandro’ and ‘Bad Romance’. She also gave a sampling of ‘You and I’, a new track.Gaga, dressed in white, started the concert with ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’, a classic Gershwin ballad.Later on, the singer, now donning a pair of sunglasses shaped like disco balls, performed the song ‘You and I’, which she dedicated to friends Brian and Lady Starlight.During the concert, the intense heat yielded to heavy rains, but Lady Gaga continued with her performance, much to the delight of her fans, who also stayed despite the rain.Aside from being a splendid performer, Gaga w

A group of sixth graders tied me to a tree, spray-painted the word ‘n****r’ on me, and threw rocks at me. That was my first day of school. And the teacher really didn’t do much of anything.”Those are not the words of a Scottsboro Boy or Civil Rights icon John Lewis. It’s not culled from a historical text by Howard Zinn or a novel by Alice Walker. It’s a memory from the mind of golfing great/tabloid target, Tiger Woods. First recounted in a 1997 interview with Barbara Walters and later recorded for posterity in Charles Barkley’s book Who’s Afraid of a Large Black Man, it’s a story the privacy-obsessed Woods has actually shared sparingly. It’s also a story that last week was called a flat out lie. A breakup is a serious, earth-shattering moment that in most cases leads to a long road of emotional recovery. So, why did Berger think it was even REMOTELY OK to break up with Carrie Bradshaw… on a Post-It? Guess what Berger – it wasn’t. And it’s still not. Before we get to our Top 10, let’s acknowledge first that there are serious long-term marriages and relationships that end horribly, with lying, infidelity, abuse, and even breaking the law – and that those breaks are significantly more intense than what we’re talking about here. This list covers the ways to break up with someone that movies are made of, the ones that you can pass along to friends with the “can you believe!!!???” disclaimer, and the ones that hopefully, someday, you’ll look back on and laugh about. We asked our BounceBack members, who have been through some of the worst breakups and divorces we’ve ever seen, to tell us the worst ways they’ve been left to pick up the pieces and move on.Some stories are hilario

To sleep or to sleep in? With young people going to bed later every night and not getting the required eight hours, sleeping in on the weekends has become the norm. But “sleep debt†is best avoided, says a doctor.YOUNG people take note! Do not waste your weekends away, even if you had a very bad week at work. That is the advice shared by the Chong sisters who won second place in The Amazing Race Asia 2 in 2008.Family time: Vanessa and Pamela Chong love hanging out at home with their family, playing mahjong on weekends.Prior to the race, the sisters were already leading an active lifestyle; they wake up before 7am, followed by rigorous exercise and a hearty breakfast. Now, Vanessa is up before 6am to get herself ready for boot camp while Pamela is up before 7am to have a go at her cross trainer. To them, nothing is more wasteful than a wasted weekend – when those two days are the only free time for them to do the things that they can’t on weekdays.Coming from a big family (they hav

Well the second week of Danica Patrick’s NASCAR debut ended abruptly with a destroyed race car. The race started off badly for Patrick when she narrowly avoided a crash and was shuffled to the back of the pack. Danica ran outside of the top 30 for a while before making it back into the 20’s. Patrick got caught up in a 12 car accident and her car was mangled. Danica remained optimistic though when she said, “It’s important to have realistic expectations. There’s going to be spikes in performance, I don’t doubt that. But there’s also going to be tough days. And today, I would say, was more of a tough day.†Even with the disappointment of a crash, Danica Patrick is bringing a renewed interest in NASCAR as she was horded by fans before and after the race. Dale Earnhardt Jr., who owns the car Patrick is racing had a very bad day as he crashed also. So now team JR Motorsports is left trying to build 2 new race cars. Danica Patrick is very good for NASCAR as she seems to be a
